Most organizations do not retire equipment all at once. A mouse breaks, a phone is replaced, a laptop dies, a printer gets swapped. Without a place to put it, that equipment ends up in desk drawers, storage closets or, worst of all, the trash. A dedicated collection bin gives staff an easy, safe place to drop end-of-life electronics as it happens.
eWaste.Pro places free collection bins at Kansas offices, schools, hospitals, warehouses and government buildings. When the bin is full, you call us and we come swap it.
What goes in the bin
- Laptops, tablets, Chromebooks and phones
- Keyboards, mice, docking stations, webcams and headsets
- Cables, chargers and power supplies
- Small network devices and hard drives
Larger items such as servers, monitors and copiers are collected on a scheduled pickup. Batteries should be taped or bagged as directed, and we will give you simple instructions with the bin.
Data security for bin collections
Bins are often where loose hard drives and old phones end up, so we treat bin contents like any other data pickup. Devices are tracked and storage is erased to NIST 800-88 or shredded in our in-house HSM HDS 150 shredder, with certificates that list serial numbers. Read more on our data destruction page.
Good fits for a bin
- School district technology offices and building media centers (see school IT recycling)
- Corporate offices and coworking spaces
- Hospital and clinic IT departments
- Warehouses and distribution centers
- City and county buildings
Certified behind the scenes
The bin is simple; what happens after it is not. Everything we collect runs through our R2v3 certified process, supported by ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. Reusable items are refurbished where possible, and the rest is recycled with documented downstream vendors. Bins are available statewide, from Wichita to the Kansas City metro, Topeka and Lawrence.
How to request a bin
Call (888) 899-8896 and tell us your address, the type of site and roughly how much equipment you retire in a typical month. We will recommend a bin size and placement, deliver it, and give you a simple sign for staff that lists what goes in and what does not. Most sites put the bin in an IT room, a copy room or near a loading dock.
When the bin is full, call us and we will swap it on a scheduled visit. Each swap produces a report so you can see what was collected, which data devices were sanitized, and what was reused or recycled over time.
Why not just use a county drop-off?
County household hazardous waste programs and retail take-back counters are built for residents, and many limit how much a business can bring or do not accept commercial loads at all. They also do not give you serialized data destruction records. A bin on your own site means devices stay in a controlled space, staff do not have to drive anywhere, and you get documentation for every data device. It is the simplest way to keep e-waste out of desk drawers and the trash.
Bins also help with culture. When staff see a clearly labeled place for old electronics, they use it. Pair the bin with a short note in your staff newsletter or IT onboarding, and loose devices stop disappearing into drawers. Call (888) 899-8896 to set one up for your site.
